Eternal Tapestry - Beyond The 4th Door
Eternal Tapestry's collective CV is a who’s who of the current psychedelic and noise-rock underground. Featuring various members of Heavy Winged and Jackie-O Motherfucker, it’s pretty much expected that this is going to be a wigged-out affair and it sure doesn’t disappoint. Taking the country-influenced drones of modern-day Earth and then supplementing it with a healthy dose of kraut-rock rhythms and psyche-rock guitar melody, Beyond The 4th Door is a blissed-out and darkly fragile journey. Ryan Carlile’s saxophone hovers in the background for much of the album, creating vast swathes of eerie texture that swarm around the detached, stoned vocals as on the aptly titled ‘Reflections On A Mirage’. The spacey closing track ‘Time Winds Through A Glass, Clearly’ is a twelve-minute trip through Eastern-sounding guitars and free-improvisation, managing to capture all the disparate elements clearly as they come together in one mind-bending composition. Eternal Tapestry are a psyche-lovers' wet dream.
