Blind Boys Of Alabama - Take The High Road

In a career spanning an astonishing seventy years Blind Boys Of Alabama have never recorded an album of classic country tinged–gospel music, an oversight that has now been corrected. With the talents of Nashville’s finest musicians and a guest list including the likes Willie Nelson, The Oak Ridge Boys and Hank Williams Jr on board, Take The High Road was recorded in a few short days. The result is a wonderfully evocative and moving album that could touch the heart of even the hardest edged cynic. From the opening, almost breathless, intro to the uplifting title track through the downbeat rhythms of 'I Know A Place' to a scorching take on Hank Williams’ ‘I Saw The Light’, you can’t help but get wrapped up in the sheer enjoyment that comes seeping through the speakers. It may not find a home with the hip kids but, for anyone willing to throw off their suspicions, the dulcet tones of Blind Boys Of Alabama and friends will keep you happy for many a long hour.
