Bad For Lazarus - 25

The full throttle rock attack of the Bad For Lazarus debut album is due to hit the racks in May but, for now, this EP of gentler, stripped back, lo-fi tunes will have to suffice. It is a rough round the edges collection of recordings that, despite their gentler nature, manages to keep the raw and dishevelled nature of their live shows. Two slightly different versions of the title track bookend the EP but, decent though they are, the real gems are tucked in the middle. ‘Jon Vs Apocalypse’ is given a doom-laden feel by some wonderfully mournful horns and the Hammond organ stylings of the garage-rocker 'Go, Diego, Go!' will appeal to any fan of the genre. It may be short but 25 is the perfect appetiser for the forthcoming main event.
