The Veronicas aim to hook you up

Already the biggest name in new Australian pop and now based in Los Angeles, 24 year-old twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, better known as The Veronicas, release their hit album ‘Hook Me Up’ on June 8th through Warner Bros. Records / Sire. The single ‘Untouched’ has already been played more than 26 million times on MySpace and will precede the album with a May 25th release.

Both ‘Hook Me Up’ and the debut album ‘The Secret Life Of…’ have hit #2 on the Australian album charts and reached multi-Platinum status in the process. The duo already have one #1 single and a further four Top 5 hits to their name as well as an ARIA Music Award (Australia’s equivalent to a Brit or Grammy) and three MTV Australia Awards. They’ve also toured alongside the Jonas Brothers and Katy Perry.

Their success has spread to the States where the single ‘Untouched’ has been certified Gold following more than 800,000 download sales. The popularity of the single also sparked ‘Hook Me Up’ into life as it reached #2 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

‘Hook Me Up’ finds The Veronicas moving away from the pop-punk sound of ‘The Secret Life Of…’ and moving towards a more sophisticated electropop feel imbued with the twins’ signature vocal harmonies and immediately infectious melodies. The album features collaborations with Toby Gad (Beyoncé, Fergie), Billy Steinberg (Madonna), Greg Wells (Mika) and Shelly Peiken (Christina Aguilera).

“These last few years have been crazy,” says Lisa. “We recorded two amazing records, toured the world with our bad-ass band and had a taste of superstardom in Australia. We actually have our own clothing line, can you believe that? Now it’s time to really turn up the heat and are we ever looking forward to it!”

I highly recommend the clothing line. It gets my whites drier much quicker than my old rotary one.
