The Libertines To Play No Further Live Dates

The Libertines will not be playing live for "the forseeable future" once their overseas tour finishes in December. Carl Barat said an undisclosed problem with his health means he needs to rest "for maybe some months". Barat told the NME: "I still love Pete, and hope he will come back in full health and take the world with The Libertines, joining the old crew on the good ship wouldn't be so hard."

In other news relating to Pete Doherty, former QPR and England striker Stan Bowles says he's honoured that The Others' new single is named after him. The song was written about Bowles and Pete Doherty, who used to edit a QPR fanzine before forming The Libertines.

Bowles told BBC Online: "It's fantastic to have a pop single named after you. I heard it earlier this week and I thought it was very good. I hope it does the business for them. I suppose Pete is a bit like me."
