Shena: Disco 2000 (and nine)
Hot on the heals of the storming radio hit Can’t Stop The Rain, comes the fantastical new single, My Fantasy, by Shèna, released on 22nd June 2009 on No Prisoner Records.
My Fantasy is all set to follow in the footsteps of Can’t Stop The Rain, winning supporters and champions across the board including Radio 2’s Steve Wright, Ken Bruce and Terry Wogan amongst others.
Shèna’s unique sound was recently described by the Guardian as “Pure Disco Gold” and her new single, My Fantasy is another perfectly crafted and silkily succulent slice of disco for the credit crunch generation!
Shèna’s modern disco sound is heralding a long overdue return of the 70’s dancefloor phenomena pioneered by Chic, Rose Royce and Earth Wind & Fire and Shèna now finds herself at the forefront of a burgeoning Nu-Disco scene. The last 12 months has seen the rise of Disco clubs across London, with 70s style good times nights such as Horsemeat Disco at the Eagle, Loose Joints at The Player and Hustle at Home. Brand new disco labels such as Clone, Rush Hour and Tiger Sushi have all emerged, leading to Music Portal Beatport recently proclaiming, “London is currently in the middle of a disco revival”.
Shèna is already a household name to many, having featured on some of the biggest dance tracks of recent years including Alex Gaudino’s Watch Out, De Souza’s monster track, Guilty and the massive Michael Gray dance floor hit The Weekend. Along the way, Shèna has worked with legendary artists from the heyday of disco including Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, James Brown and Jocelyn Brown as well as working with contemporary artists such as Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone and the Sugababes.
My Fantasy and Can’t Stop The Rain are both taken from Shèna’s debut album One Man Woman which also includes the magically pulsating Love Sensation, Nu-Disco dance floor groover Nasty Little Rumour and the fantastic Sex Factor; along with the brilliant Don’t Get Me Wrong and Everything You Need, One Man Woman will define Shèna’s incredible career.
