Music news round-up: Weds 7th Jan

Carl Barât & The Jackals release single 'A Storm Is Coming' through Cooking Vinyl Records on Monday 23rd February. It's taken from the band’s debut album Let It Reign, which is released a week earlier on the 16th February. A UK tour for early 2015 will be announced shortly.

Blancmange release their new album Semi Detached via Cherry Red on 23rd March. It features a cover of Can's 'I Want More', whilst 'The Fall' is a tribute to the band of the same name. ‘I went to see them many times,’ says lyricist Neil Arthur. ‘I sent Mark E Smith our first EP and we exchanged a few letters, his being ones of humorous encouragement.’

Ric Rawlins' The Rise of the Super Furry Animals is published by The Friday Project on 19th February. It's the first full-length biography of the Welsh psych-pop pranksters, and reviews their now 20+ year long career. Pete Fowler, who provided much of the band's artwork has provided the illustrations.

Atari Teenage Riot release their sixth album, Reset, on 23rd February.

The Go! Team return with a new album, The Scene Between on 23rd March via Memphis Industries. It's their first album in over four years.

Australian four-piece Nite Fields (pictured) have unveiled new track ‘Prescription’ in anticipation of their forthcoming debut LP Depersonalisation, which is set for release on 2nd February via Felte. The band will play a London show at The Old Blue Last on 23rd February.
