Music news round-up: Weds 28 March

Following her recent Wisdom Of Spring Tour, Laura Marling will play a one-off celebratory night ‘in the round’ at the Royal Albert Hall on July 7th 2012.

This will be a special event, Laura and her band will be performing the latest album A Creature I Don’t Know from start to finish, followed by a varied set from her two previous albums. She staged a similar event at the Sydney Opera House early in the year.

Laura will also be playing Latitude festival on Saturday the 14th of July. These will be her last shows of the year.

UK folk-rockers Levellers have just announced that they'll be releasing their new single 'Truth Is' as part of Record Store Day. A limited edition 7" red vinyl will be coming out on saturday April 21st, with the digital release of the single coming the following monday.

'Truth Is' comes backed with the below video, and is taken from their upcoming new album Static On The Airwaves.

Vancouver duo Japandroids have announced the long awaited follow-up to their 2009 debut, Post-Nothing, along with a new single plus a full UK/EU tour (more details below). New album Celebration Rock will be available 5th June on Polyvinyl Record Co. On 14th May, Brian King (vocals, guitar) and Dave Prowse (vocals, drums) will release the first single off the record, 'The House That Heaven Built' as the fourth installment of their 7” series, which also features a B-Side cover of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ 'Jack The Ripper'.

Portland’s Tu Fawning have set a Record Store Day release for the first official single from their new record A Monument (out May 7th on City Slang). The 'Anchor' 7” comes backed with a remix by Hauschka.

Chazzstock is a non profit festival (all money raised goes towards The Prince's Trust) and has been set up in memory of Charles Haddon of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool. Charles' tragic death in August 2010, bought his family and friends together to create Charles' dream festival which will be situated in the stately grounds of Stanford Hall, just round the corner from where he grew up.

The festival takes place in the picturesque grounds of Stanford Hall in Lutterworth, Leicestershire on the 9-10th June 2012.

So far The Vaccines, The Horrors, Tribes, Man Like Me, JoyWride, Goldheart Assembly, Lois & The Love, I Dream In Colour, The Ghosts, Jen Armstrong, Bugalu Foundation, Safari, The Low Suns and Escapists have confirmed to play over the weekend, with many more special guests to be announced other the coming weeks.

EMA has announced a Spring 2012 UK headline tour, including a stop off at Brighton’s Great Escape festival.
