Music news round up: w/e 26 Jan

The Flaming Lips have announced the release of The Terror, the band's thirteenth studio album, on April 1st. The album was produced by long-time collaborator Dave Fridmann and TFL at Tarbox Road Studios. They play the London Roundhouse on May 20th and 21st.


New York duo MS MR's next single 'Fantasy' will be out on March 10th, followed by their debut album Second Hand Rapture in May which has been written and produced by the band with additional production and mixing by Tom Elmhirst. The band will also be on tour in the UK with Bastille through February and March before going on to headline their own show at XOYO in London on March 11th.


Man Like Me will set off on a UK tour this March, starting with their album launch party at Plan B in Brixton on March 6th. They will also be supporting BRIT nominee Jessie Ware at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on March 14th.

Pulled Apart By Horses guitarist James Brown has launched Covered Records, a label which will release a series of 7” singles where bands cover each others' songs. The first release will see Pulled Apart By Horses covering ‘Heartsink’ by touring partners and close friends Blood Red Shoes, whilst on the flip side BRS will cover the Horses' ‘Get Off My Ghost Train’. The 7" will be available from March 11th with the two tracks available digitally from April 11th. Clips from both tracks can be heard below.


British Sea Power fifth album Machineries Of Joy will be released on April 1st through Rough Trade Records. The album release will be accompanied by a full UK tour, dates of which are below.

Swedish proggers Pain Of Salvation have announced a string of acoustic dates across Europe, with a solitary stop in London, playing The Garage on April 15th. They will be joined for the three weeks of dates by Dutch singer/songwriter Anneke Van Giersbergen and Árstíðir from Iceland. The tour is to coincide with the band's upcoming album release via InsideOutMusic, featuring newly recorded acoustic versions of classic Pain Of Salvation songs.


'Here We Go Again' will be the next single released from former Girls front man Christopher Owen's debut solo album Lysandre. The track - which you can listen to below - will be out on March 11th.


After selling out both her London shows at Dingwalls (February 27th) and Brixton Windmill (March 3rd) Caitlin Rose has announced more UK dates starting next month. The full tour dates are now as follows:
