Labasheeda head for the UK

The Amsterdam-based Labasheeda was founded in 2004 and released their well received first CD Charity Box two years later. The band often ventures onto foreign soil and last year toured England and Germany. Last June they did a Canadian tour, including an appearance at the North by Northeast festival in Toronto.

In April Labasheeda released their new EP, titled A Few of a Population. It’s available on Presto Chango Records as a 10” on clear vinyl, including a CD for those who haven’t realised that it’s hip to blow the dust off the record deck in the attic. This month they will do another UK tour and will release a 3-track 7”, Circle (this time on blue vinyl).

A Few of a Population was recorded in a bas-less line-up consisting of Saskia van der Giessen on vocals, guitar & violin, Arne Wolfswinkel on guitar and Paolo Panza on drums (however, some overdubbed bass-parts can be heard on the record).Meanwhile, Thanos Fotiadis joined the band on bass and Paolo Panza is replaced by Dyan Ramekers. This is also the line-up in which they will do the tour in the UK.
