Jade Bird is getting no joy in her new track
Jade Bird has released a new track in the run up to the release of her debut album on 19th April. 'I Get No Joy' can be streamed right now - check it out below.
2018 was a stellar year for the fast-rising star Jade Bird. She toured profusely with her band, released a string of Radio 1 playlisted singles including the most recent ‘Love Has All Been Done Before’, performed her breakthrough single ‘Lottery’ live on Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and Jools Holland and most importantly – finished writing and recording her debut album.
All in preparation for 2019 which promises to be even bigger for the 20-year- old pop star. ‘I Get No Joy’ is an exceptional next taste of what is to come on her first full-length. Although it picks up perfectly where previously released singles ‘Uh Huh’ and ‘Love Has All Been Done’ left us, everything is ramped-up on the brand-new single. Her whip-smart lyrics and instantly recognisable vocals have never sounded more brilliant on a track that only goes to further demonstrate her fiercely individual talent.
On writing ‘I Get No Joy’, Jade says – “This song is about the stream of thought that runs through your head at all times as an over thinker. It’s about how that gets in the way of being present in the moment and ultimately ‘getting no joy’ and about the frustration of everyone’s cliche of happiness not making you feel fulfilled either.”
