Daniel Johnston has spent the last 20 or so years exposing his Beatles-inspired heartrending tales of unrequited love, cosmic mishaps and existential torment to an ever-growing international cult audience. However, his ongoing problems with mental illness continued to hamper his success as Johnston has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The last few years saw a widening recognition of Johnston's work, particularly by established major artists. Artists like Eels, Bright Eyes, Beck, Death Cab for Cutie, Sparklehorse, The Flaming Lips and Tom Waits have covered songs written by Johnston. The 2006 film and DVD release of “The Devil and Daniel Johnston” on Sony Pictures brought the incredible story and music of Daniel Johnston to a wider mainstream audience. - His 25-date European tour in 2008 (UK, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark) saw Daniel Johnston being backed in certain cities by musicians like Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse), Scoutt Niblett, James McNew (Yo la Tengo), Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub). Johnston's also does his own sleeve design which is often made up of nightmarish mixtures of cartoon images. Established characters such as Casper the Friendly Ghost and Captain America often sit side by side with his own creation on the page.

Welcome to my world” is a collection of some of Daniel’s most-beloved songs. These are the songs that built the legend… a must-have for the legion of devoted Daniel Johnston fans as well as the perfect introduction for new listeners. With previously unreleased songs LENNON SONG and LAURIE.

Yip Jump Music has been digitally remastered, comes with new packaging, a fold out poster, lyrics and drawing. The album includes previously unavailable songs DEAD LOVER’S TWISTED HEART, LOVE DEFINED, MUSEUM OF LOVE and I REMEMBER PAINFULLY.

Continued Story and Hi, How Are You are the legendary cassette recordings, also digitally remastered. New packaging, fold out poster, lyrics and drawings.

These reissues mark the start of a long term plan to bring Daniel Johnston’s music to a bigger audience in Europe. Only “Welcome to my World” has previously been released in Europe, whereas forthcoming reissues “1990”, “Artistic Vice” and “Why me” will be released with new packaging, additional songs, bonus material and made available for the first time ever in Europe. The releases will precede a new studio album in 2010 when he is expected to return to Europe for a full tour. Currently in the making is a movie production / biopic about Daniel Johnston’s life and its scheduled for a 2011 release.
