Crippled Black Phoenix have 200 Tons of Bad Luck

Crippled Black Phoenix issue their album 200 Tons of Bad Luck via Invada on 20 April 2009.

Press release:

We live in an age of choice. Which is why you'll be able to buy the latest albums from Bristolian neo-prog rockers Crippled Black Phoenix as two complimentary albums - The Resurrectionists and Night Raider - or a single, digested version 200 Tons ...

If it seems like an unconventional way of getting music out there, CBP are an unconventional band, prone to Gilmour-esque yearning guitars, spoken word overdubs, songs in four movements and 15-minute edits. They draw musical influences from an eclectic range of sounds old and new ("Though not much after 1980," they admit), yet stand alone in a genre that's not quite been defined.

CBP formed as an experimental project in 2005, comprising of musical outsiders frm bands such as Iron Monkey, Mogwai and Electric Wizard. Guided from their formless origins by Invada label boss Geoff Barrow, the debut album A Love of Shared Disasters was issued in 2006. The band became a fully functioning live act the following year, with more members contributing to a fluid group that can't be defined without its own rock family tree.
