Bloodletting on the dancefloor

Hard times for various alt. rock acts as American label V2, home of the White Stripes, apparently shut its doors to new releases over the weekend. Billboard reports that parent company Sheridan Square will retain the rights to catalogue material from the Stripes, The Raconteurs and other acts such as Moby, Gang of Four, Alkaline Trio and The Icarus Line but will no longer issue new material. It is presumed that all affected artists will become free agents with immediate effect. The UK label is unaffected by the decision.
