Vandaveer to Divide & Conquer in July
“Divide & Conquer” CD/LP
released July 19th on Bronzerat Records
Vandaveer is Mark Charles Heidinger, a man who knows how to charm via the medium of song. His melodies are easy, welcoming and filled with splendour, and intelligent enough to be on the right side of radio-friendly.
His stories are as universal as the songs they inhabit. Whilst humble (possibly a result of his Kentucky origins), his folk is not twee or sappy. You will detect the cool of a confident man but without the condescension. Although not autobiographical, Mark sang: “you got a swagger, you got a fistful of swoon”. And it could apply, except that Mark is also a man with a big heart. Divide & Conquer embodies his spirit.
Vandaveer comes to these shores having first picked up a cult following on the continent where he has toured to adoring fans, accompanied by his sister Rose Guerin, the seamless classic female voice you will be seduced by on “Divide & Conquer” .
This album has made its mark in France and mainland Europe, and leapt above the throng since its release mid-2009.
So, by the time “Divide & Conquer” arrives here, Vandaveer will already have completed the follow-up, which is due for release here in the first quarter of 2011.
Consider it therefore a taste of the past, a call to the present and a glimpse to the very near future, waiting in the wings, ready to tip its hat.
Vandaveer will arrive in a timely and gentlemanly manner.
