Titus Andronicus announce new single 'A More Perfect Union' and UK tour in May
With their sophomore album The Monitor already being hailed by critics on both sides of the pond as one of the best records of the year, New Jersey’s finest noisemakers Titus Andronicus are set to bring their wildly ambitious, gloriously sprawling vein of unbridled rock and roll to the UK with a series of live dates and a brand new single.
Fans of the band’s American Civil War themed album will already be familiar with 'A More Perfect Union', the album’s stirring opener which starts off with a recitation of Abraham Lincoln’s "Address to the Young Men’s Lyceum of Springfield, January 1838" before transforming into a galloping, rousing clarion call to arms, and one which, in the course of over 7 minutes, manages to namecheck Jefferson Davis, deconstruct an immortal Bruce Springsteen lyric, muse on the pent-up anger and frustration of suburban existence and rock harder than most albums do in their entire length.
The band will also be launching the single with a slew of live UK dates in May, which, as anyone who has seen them on stage would know, are sure to be nothing short of utterly incendiary.
'A More Perfect Union' is released on Merok/ XL Recordings on May 24.
