Swanton Bombs explode

The restless trials and thrills of reckless youth encapsulated in Swanton Bombs' staggering album “Mumbo Jumbo and Murder”, released through Quiff Records (Turnstile) last month to critical plaudits all round, will without a doubt translate to a vital performance when the band takes centre stage in May. The duo have had a dizzying start to the year (they also released the 7” vinyl single “Viktoria” which came with a download for their entire album etched into the groove), their raw, delirious brand of blues-punk proving to be the perfect antidote during the mellow first months of the year.

Hot on the heels of epic sold-out support slots with the likes of Girls and Los Campesinos!, the band bring their visceral, ramshackle blend of blues and punk centre stage as they embark on their own headline tour. A warm-up performance upon the high seas of the Thames on the Tamesis Dock boat, 10th of March with The Soft Pack, hosted by Rockfeedback, should provide a salt-air taster of what’s to come. Swanton Bomb’s irrepressible energy and chemistry manifests in their extraordinary live shows and this tour should prove that 2010 really is their year.
