Mystery Jets return with a free download of Flash A Hungry Smile
Mystery Jets return with a free download of ‘Flash A Hungry Smile’, a synthesizer-fuelled perfect pop anthem which is the first track to be taken from their third album Serotonin which is due for worldwide release on July 5th.
As well as producing seminal albums such as Sex Pistols’ Anarchy In The UK, John Cales’s Paris 1919 and Pulp’s Different Class, the legendary producer Chris Thomas has now collaborated with the Mystery Jets. The band described what it’s like working with such a musical legend. “He can hear things that none of us can hear,” whispers guitarist William Rees. “And he has the best stories,” nods lead singer Blaine Harrison. “The anecdotes are just unbelievable.”
Since playing out of the boatyards of Eel Pie Island, Mystery Jets have enjoyed a wealth of success. Recapping on their rise to fame, Blaine reminisces on past influences, “We wanted to be Crimson, Yes, Pink Floyd and Genesis all at the same time, then The Libertines were massively influential.”
After their warmly received album Twenty One in 2008, the boys from West London are searching for new musical territories. Despite no longer being a permanent fixture with the band, Henry Harrison offers some understanding of what makes a Mystery Jets song. “I think it’s really important with a Mystery Jets song that you want to get involved, that there’s a bit of blood and gore”
