London, Tuesday 1st February 2010 – MTV Networks UK & Ireland (MTVN UK) has announced Nashville based rock-band MONA as the winner of ‘BLACKBERRY PRESENTS: MTV’S BRAND NEW FOR 2011’ –a list indicating the top ten emerging acts MTV predicts will make it big in 2011.

With 35% of the vote, MTV viewers voted in their thousands to crown MONA as their champions – stealing the crown from last year’s winner Justin Bieber. Matt Cook, Director of Music at MTV UKsays, - "Mona are a brilliantly exciting band and despite reports to the contrary, proof that Rock is far from over in 2011." Nick Brown, front man of band said, “We’d like to thank our fans for voting for us- we really appreciate it.”

Hotly tipped singer and songwriter JESSIE J was pipped to the post with 27 % of the vote, closely followed by FAR EAST MOVEMENT, WILLOW SMITH and CLAIRE MAGUIRE who made up the top five.

As part of ‘BLACKBERRY PRESENTS: MTV’S BRAND NEW FOR 2011’ - MTV UK hosted two additional live shows at Camden's Koko with showcases from four of this year’s nominees. An audience of 1,500 enjoyed live debuts from winners MONA and finalists JESSIE J, RUFF, DIAMONDZ and CLARE MAGUIRE. The shows will premiere on MTV Music at the following times throughout February and March:
