Lauren Pritchard takes it to the bridge

Jackson Tennessee born, London based singer-songwriter and rising star Lauren Pritchard, has been confirmed to play at the launch event for Street Pianos 2010. http://www.streetpianos.com/london2010. Lauren will play piano and sing two songs from her forthcoming debut album “Wasted In Jackson” live from the Millennium Bridge this Thursday July 1st from 17.10 – 17.20pm.

21 street pianos have been placed throughout the ‘square mile’ and beyond from 22 June – 10 July 2010 to celebrate the City of London Festival. Located in public gardens, streets and squares the pianos are available for anyone to play. Touring internationally since 2008, “Play Me, I’m Yours” is an artwork by artist Luke Jerram. From 1st – 4th July, the City of London Festival’s Millennium Bridge piano will be connected live with a piano in Times Square and the website will allow the public the opportunity to post their comments, films and photos about the pianos. Whilst documenting each piano’s journey the website will connect the pianos and their communities across the city. After the event the pianos are offered as a donation to local schools and community groups. Other featured performers include Joyce Yang (NYC) and Alexander Soares (London) both classical pianists, who will be playing Chopin pieces to commemorate the great composer’s 200th anniversary as well as students from London’s Guildhall School and New York’s Juilliard School.
