Frankie & the Heartstrings announce new instore performances at Pop Recs Ltd including Franz Ferdinand and Maximo Park

Since opening their Sunderland record shop, Pop Recs Ltd in May last year, Frankie & the Heartstrings have been feted for its creative impact on their home city, all the while releasing records and filling the space with other notable bands. Franz Ferdinand will perform on Thursday March 27th in a semi-stripped down appearance. Maximo Park will be appearing in a similar style on Saturday 22nd March. Frankie & the Heartstrings were recognized last week when they received the Contribution to Culture prize at the Sunderland Echo Excellence awards. The four-piece have also been nominated in two categories at the prestigious North East Journal Culture Awards, where they are up for Best Newcomer and Best Arts & Business Partnership. The nominations and prizes are in addition to the band winning the Hardest Working Band accoldate at last winter's AIM Awards.

Next month, the band entire the studio as they start recording the first new material since their second album, The Days Run Away, released in May last year.

New music will be released around the summer, alongside soon-to-be-announced live shows.
