Emeli Sandé is the 2012 BRITs Critics' Choice

Emeli Sandé has been revealed as the winner of the 2012 BRITs Critics' Choice Award.

The Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, whose debut single 'Heaven' charted No.2 and who achieved a No.1 with Professor Green, won ahead of Maverick Sabre (second) with Michael Kiwanuka (third) and will now perform at the BRITs Nominations Launch event held on January 12th at The Savoy Hotel in London.

Talking about her win, Sandé commented: "To win a BRIT Award so early in my career is beyond a dream come true. I am overwhelmed to be the recipient of such a prestigious award. Thank you so much."

The 2012 BRIT Awards take place on February 21st at London's O2 Arena and will be exclusively broadcast live on ITV1.
