The Research – Bush Hall London

The Research packed up their keyboard bass and drum kit and headed to London’s Bush Hall to promote their new album “Breaking up”
The Wakefield three piece performed their keyboard led love sick anthems to a fairly packed house.
Frontman Russell Searle sang the majority of lead vocals while accompanying himself on his tinny keyboard.
Georgia Lashbrook and Sarah Williams joined in with harmonys and additional lead while playing bass and drums.
The Research’s songs come across sometimes as bouncy, happy, twee throwaway numbers but scratch the surface and the lyrics sometimes take on a darker side.
Songs like “The way you used to smile” and “I bet if we kissed” show a longing for romance both past and future.
The stand up moment for me were last years classic single “C’mon Chameleon” but the whole evening was very enjoyable.
The band have a few more solo UK dates scheduled alongside various Festival appearances over the Summer.
