My Life Story – Mean Fiddler London

Jake Shillingford’s cult orchestral band from the Brit Pop era – My Life Story reformed to play a one off show at London’s Mean Fiddler.
This “one off” event was to promote a forthcoming “Greatest hits” package “Sex and violins (The best of My Life Story) ”
This was the first time the full 12 piece band had played together since their final shows at the end of 2000.
The 15 song set consisted of tracks from all three of MLS’s album’s,starting off with three songs from debut “Mornington Crescent”. “Sparkle”,”Girl A” and “Funny ha ha”.
Several numbers from their third “stripped down” album “Joined up talking” were played including singles “Empire line” and “Girl thing” alongside stand out album track “Neverland”.
Album number two brought several “The golden mile” songs to the stage,with “Suited and booted” and “King of kissingdom” standing out.
The band encored with two tracks from “Mile”,an extended “Twelve reasons”and “You can’t uneat the apple”
The audience at the sold out show enjoyed every minute of the band’s performance and sung along to each number.
Jake Shillingford currently records under the band name Exile Inside.Judging by the crowds reaction he may be considering
a more permanent reunion for My Life Story…
