Imagine Dragons / Grouplove - Brixton Academy, London

Las Vegas Rockers Imagine Dragons took over London's Brixton Academy for a three night run of sell out shows this week. Each evening had different support acts and it came as a pleasant surprise to the Fix to find LA's Grouplove opening for the headliners on the second night of their three show stint, having witnessed an excellent headline gig from the band the previous weekend.

Grouplove's set was pulled from their debut album Never Trust A Happy Song and forthcoming second collection Spreading Rumours, due for UK release in February. The band were on great form and seemed to go down well with the Brixton crowd, warming them up nicely for the thrills that were to follow.

Imagine Dragons' debut album Night Visions has done phenomenally well all around the world in the last year or so. The UK have certainly taken the band to their hearts, with the album getting to number two in the UK charts and a number one position in Scotland! The band seem delighted with their success over here and were over the moon regarding their sold out shows. One of the band members was feeling pretty ill in the run up to the 2nd night but frontman Dan Reynolds told the crowd that there was never a chance of them cancelling as they'd been looking forward to the gigs so much.

I'm sure the audience would have been devastated with a "no show" as they were roaring their approval throughout, screaming their heads off every time Dan walked to the front of the stage or stood on a speaker. Fans were treated to tracks from the band's debut, including singles 'It's Time' and 'Radioactive' and also feasted on a couple of choice covers in the shape of Blur's 'Song Two' and U2's 'With Or Without You', making the whole evening a memorable one for all assembled.
