Evanescence - HMV Hammersmith Apollo, London
Evanescence returned this year with their self-titled album, eight years after the release of Fallen, which is still their most successful album. There was a good mixture of fans out tonight to catch the headliners, with most appearing early to catch Taylor Momsen and her band The Pretty Reckless who put on a great show for those who wanted to get full value from their ticket, bringing the house down in particular with their cover of The White Stripes' 'Seven Nation Army'.
Amy Lee and the band arrived on stage at 9pm, with Lee arriving last running out to greet the crowd before starting the set off with 'What You Want' from their new album. With a jam packed setlist, and the band covering tracks from all three albums, fans both old and new were treated to a fine performance, including an added bonus of 'Good Enough' dedicated to Amy's husband who was celebrating his birthday on the day of the gig, proving it's still far too early to write the goth rockers off completely.
