T In The Park 2010 - Day One - A Review In Pictures - Balado, Near Kinross
Music lovers from around the world have been flocking to Scotland's T In The Park since its introduction in 1994. I've attended the event on numerous occasions since its beginnings at Strathclyde Country Park, photographing the fest for the third year running in 2010 at its current home in Balado.
The first day of the festival kicks off around 5pm, with acts appearing over five stages. I started my 2010 T shooting London duo The Big Pink on the main stage, simply because it was nearest! Photographers get a three song allocation in the photo pit to cover the acts onstage, getting led out by the event's lovely photo runners on the third song's completion, taken back to the media tent to sort out our photographs or onwards to another stage. It's all a bit hectic so you don't really get much chance to take in much off the music on offer and each band usually start up their best track as you're leaving the arena, making you wish you had just one more song!
Although the Friday night session at the festival started later than the following days I still managed to squeeze in a few perfomances, taking in a chirpy Paloma Faith sporting a strange red hat on the main stage, one song trips to see both Jamie T and Editors, La Roux complaining she had a sore throat (though she sounded alright to me) over in the King Tuts arena and Faithless, with a kilted Maxi Jazz whipping the crowd into a frenzy!
