Cornbury Music Festival - Saturday - The Great Tew Park
Cornbury Music Festival is a three day event, taking place at the Great Twew Park in Oxfordshire. It's a family friendly affair. with acts playing over four stages. There's also plenty to offer in addition to the music, including a comedy tent, a fun-filled fairground and a fantastic children's area.
Stand outs during my second day at Cornbury included a fun set from Indiana blues act Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, with a very animated Jim Kerr also helping to make Simple Minds headline performance one fans wouldn't forget in a hurry.
Both sets were extremely entertaining but Saturday was really all about the girls for me, taking in a trio of songs from Scottish songstress Nina Nesbitt and the always on form Lissie, introducing festival goers to tracks from second album Back To Forever.
Photographers normally only get to shoot the first three songs of an act at festivals and tend to spend time running between stages, so it's hard to catch full sets from anyone. I do try to view a larger chunk of at least one performance each festival I attend though and managed to grab a place on the end of the barrier for US country singer Kacey Musgraves's stint on the Songbird stage after taking in the first ten minutes or so from the photo pit. I came across Kacey's music towards the end of 2012. I was lucky enough to view her live on three occasions last year and had a lot of time for her album Same Trailer Different Park on its release.
There were quite a few Kacey fans in attendance and they were treated to live renditions of most of the tracks from her debut, including a moving 'It Is What It Is' and the far more upbeat 'Follow Your Arrow', with covers of Weezer's 'Island In The Sun' and Nancy Sinatra's 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' also making an appearance. I'm glad I hung around for Miss Mugraves's performance anyway as it was certainly the highlight of my whole Cornbury weekend.
