Cornbury Music Festival - Friday - The Great Tew Park
Cornbury Music Festival is a three day event, taking place at the Great Twew Park in Oxfordshire. It's a family friendly affair. with acts playing over four stages. There's also plenty to offer in addition to the music, including a comedy tent, a fun-filled fairground and a fantastic children's area.
This was my first visit to the festival and I really enjoyed my time there. Friday's highlight's included a set from singer songwriter Suzanne Vega, disco diva Sophie Ellis Bextor returning to her slightly more alternative roots, with a performance showcasing her sumptuous current album Wanderlust and main stage headliner, ivory-tinkler Jools Holland and his big band, with special guests Melanie C and Marc Almond.
It had been a fairly decent day weather wise but the heavens opened around the time Jools and his gang took to the stage. It didn't deter the fans down the front though and they were rewarded with a terrific show that included a heart-pulling 'Say Hello, Wave Goodbye' from Mr Almond and a joyous rendition of 'Aint Got No, I Got Life' from the Spice Girl.
