Caro Emerald - O2 Arena, London

Fans of Dutch songstress Caro Emerald may have been a bit peeved when she postponed her UK tour for seven months back in March. The singer did have good reason, as she was expecting her first child, with Baby Emerald coming into the world a month later.

They do say good things come to those who wait and I imagine this was true for the assembled crowd at the very busy O2 Arena in London, as they were treated to a set pulled from both the singer’s album’s - Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor and The Shocking Miss Emerald - including opener ‘I Belong To You, ‘Riviera Life’, 'A Night Like This’ and ‘Back It Up’, with Miss E also throwing in a couple of curveballs, in the shape of Propellerheads' ‘History Repeating Itself’ and final number of the night ‘Dream A Little Dream’.

The Fix first encountered Caro back in 2010, popping in to view an industry showcase in a swanky establishment on our way to see Noisettes at Union Chapel. It was an impressive performance, with her retro jazz vibe mixed with the odd dance beat and samples a great combination. I tipped big things for the vocalist, so it's been interesting to see her career expand in the UK, especially watching her last album hit the number one position. Caro's O2 show was her biggest to date over here and I imagine she'll have no problem playing to similar sized audiences when studio album number three comes along. She certainly merits the attention.
