Lucy Spraggan's 2019

If you can believe it, Lucy Spraggan released her fifth album in 2019. It doesn't seem like the singer-songwriter has been around for that long. In the midst of a 32-date UK tour Lucy took some time out to tell us about her 2019.

Hello Lucy, so what’s been the most exciting thing you’ve done in 2019?

I really started to feed my passion for motorbikes this year, I have a Kawasaki Vulcan and a recently purchased Honda Grom (I’ve been touring with that in the back of the trailer!). Work-wise, playing Glastonbury for the second time was an absolute highlight for me - I nearly nervously threw up backstage, for the second time!

What’s been your biggest challenge of 2019?

I’m recently sober (three months) so that’s been a challenge for sure. Touring is very different with no booze involved, but I love a challenge.

Where’s the coolest place you’ve played music in 2019?

I toured with Melissa Etheridge across Europe and then on her curated cruise from Miami to Mexico - that was pretty awesome!

What’s the one album you’ve loved most in 2019?

Black Honey by Black Honey. It’s actually a 2018 album but it’s rolled into my 2019 too. Timeless, listen to it!

What’s been the song that’s most soundtracked your 2019?

I’ve been absolutely rinsing Marina and the Diamond’s 2012 album Electra Heart for nostalgic reasons - I love Radioactive.

What have you hated about 2019?

The mercury retrograde. And I’m not even into astrology.

What are you most excited about for in 2020?

Some really exciting and HUGE headline shows. Cannot wait for another summer of festivals too!
