Offset Festival announces first acts
Offset Festival returns to the environs of Hainault Forest Country Park on September 4-5th 2010.
The first announcement for 2010 is No Wave legends Liquid Liquid. Flying in from New York for their second-ever performance in the UK, this band is one of the most influential artists in the post-punk/no wave genre, having influenced bands from Animal Collective to Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Having produced one of this year’s best albums, These New Puritans join the helm for a very special live performance. Telepathe will be flying in from Brooklyn for a late night dancefloor friendly live set. Legendary Krautrock group (and Eno collaborators) Cluster make a very rare live performance, alongside pioneering cold wave band Charles De Goal who will be preceded by a special Angular Records cold wave showcase. Fresh from producing their eagerly-awaited second album with Diplo, Rolo Tomassi are set to return to Offset's hardcore stage for their second Offset performance. Sub-pop signing Male Bonding move up to main stage this year after one of the most jaw dropping performances of Offset 2009, as do Bo Ningen, a band whose hair-raising antics at last years Offset was hailed by the Observer as best discovery at the event.
In addition, East London’s legendary electronic night Trailer Trash are set to bring a forward-thinking dance stage to this year’s festival. Showcasing the finest DJs in town since 2004, the club went from legendary Friday nights in Shoreditch to massive warehouse parties to their very own bar, the now infamous Dalston Superstore. Expect a lineup to blow you away.
Now a firm fixture at the event, Offset welcome back Experimental Circle Club - from the founders of Southend’s legendary Junk Club, a night that has spawned a long list of bands including The Horrors, These New Puritans, Neils Children and Ipso Facto. The ECC tent will be a carefully selected line-up of performances – possibly the most diverse and interesting offering you’ll find at a festival this year.
As well as the cutting edge music on offer, this year’s Offset Festival will be offering a whole new lifestyle section to the event with organic catering incorporating world genres of food; vegetarian, French crepes, Whole Hog Roasts and the customary festival German sausages. The fashion crowd will also be kept satisfied with an eclectic vintage clothing market on show, with experienced traders selling clothing from the 1920’s to the present day, and, enhancing the creative feel to the festival, there will also be a Victorian fun-fair with an authentic Ferris wheel, swing boats and helter-skelter for families.
Earlybird tickets will go on sale on Tuesday April 6th - £55 non-camping/ £65 camping – more information at www.offsetfestival.co.uk
