22-20's - Shoot Your Gun

So far in June, 22-20s have performed at both the Isle of Wight festival and Glastonbury and with appearances at the Move Festival and T In The Park during July, they're clearly looking for Summer '04 as the time to jump from being bridesmaid to bride. Or simply from the support act on the recent Supergrass tour to headliners.

Shoot Your Gun is a more brooding rock song than their debut single - the Canvey Island punk/blues of Why Don't You Do It For Me? - and although the radio edit is a slighter version than that on their forthcoming album, this is still a solid single. Better yet is the sense that Shoot Your Gun has something special about it that lets it stand out from the current dirge of boy-rock bands showing us just how much they really care. Over the course of this single and the last, 22-20s are hinting that their debut album may be a darker place than the likes of Elbow and Snow Patrol have yet to visit and if they can deliver, it could be great.
