Prior to the commencement of their UK tour, The Boxer Rebellion celebrate the physical release of their highly-acclaimed album UNION with a series of free shows and signing sessions at hmv stores, starting with hmv Dublin Grafton Street and hmv’s flagship Oxford Street store in London’s West End on Friday 11th and Sunday 13th September respectively. The hmv London in-store will be presented by Radio One DJ Edith Bowman. Showtime starts at 1.00 pm, after which the band will remain in the store to meet fans and sign advance copies of the CD version of the album which is officially released the following day, Monday 14th September 2009.
Next up the band head to hmv’s Market Street store in Manchester on Monday 14th September 2009 followed by a visit to hmv’s Northumberland Street store on Tuesday 15th September 2009. Both in-store performances kick off at 5.00 pm and will be followed by signing sessions.
The Boxer Rebellion - made up of Nathan Nicholson (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Todd Howe (lead guitar), Adam Harrison (bass guitar), and Piers Hewitt (drums) - wrap up their mini hmv tour when they make their final two in-store performances at hmv’s Wheelergate store in Nottingham on Thursday 17th September 2009 and then at hmv’s Broadgate store in Bristol on 18th September 2009. Again, both performances begin at 5.00 pm.
The Boxer Rebellion shot to fame earlier this year when the digital version of their album UNION entered the Top 100 US Billboard Album Charts with no label backing whatsoever. The CD version of the album is being manufactured and promoted in partnership with hmv, marking a ground-breaking collaboration between an artist and retailer. UNION will be on sale at hmv and Fopp stores across the country, as well as in selected independent retailers. The CD version of the album includes bonus tracks as well as exclusive interviews, track-by-track commentary, and filmed lessons from the band, powered by Opendisc technology.
