“Like Kaiser Chiefs if they had a hard-on for T.Rex, or Boy Kill Boy maiming themselves with snapped Slade seven-inches. Ace, in other words” [NME]

(the music)… “never really lets up in terms of energy, spunk and verve” [BBC]

“Klaxons with more balls, Foals with less pretension and These New Puritans but, well, less shit” [Subba-Cultcha]

QUICK FACTS: Single taken from Tom Robinson (BBC 6music) ‘Record of the Year’, * NME Radar *, Radio 1 Lamacq airplay, Produced and mixed by ex Clor member Luke Smith (SHITDISCO, To My Boy, Theoretical Girl, frYars), Mastered by Luke Smith and Shawn. Joseph at Optimum Mastering in Bristol, European booking agent Proton, EP “People Around” released in UK through Shifty Disco

“Colder” is a single that typifies the album from which it is taken, an album, which also happens to have featured as Tom Robinson’s ‘Record of the Year’ (BBC 6music) on the strength of preview mp3s!

There is, in point of fact, nothing ‘cold’ about it. This is a wonderful piece of angular art-core pop from a band by the name of The Banshee, who have already been hotly tipped by the NME indie bible in its Radar section. Think Talking Heads, Devo, New Order, Wire, XTC or The Smiths and you would not be a million miles from the mark.

With roots in Genova, The Banshee chose Red House Studios in Senigallia, Italy, to record this and the other tracks that go to make up the album "Your Nice Habits", with ex-Clor member Luke Smith producing and mixing. Luke then mastered the results with Shawn Joseph at Optimum Mastering, Bristol.

Already in 2009; The Banshee played a one month European warm up tour in February that included some UK shows; March saw the release of a download EP entitled "People Around" on Shifty Disco (Young Knives, Elf Power, King of Spain..); and plans have been laid for the band – now under the wing of European booking agent Proton (SHITDISCO, Casiokids) – to play 3 weeks in Europe culminating in a full UK tour to promote this and the release of "Your Nice Habits" during September and October..
