The Music Fix Monthly Playlist - June

I think the above image acts as a suitable intro to what's been rocking the world of The Music Fix this month. In between replays of Billie J and doing the Thriller dance, we also found time to listen to the below...

Blur – Music is My Radar
One big 'BOO' to not catching them in concert but this late Blur track, indebted to Tony Allen - who, incidentally, I did catch this month - is still as fresh as back in 2000. (LM)

The Damned - Melody Lee (live in Edinburgh)
How to make a venue full of old people happy. (DB)

Desire - Under Your Spell
“Throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.” (MJ)

The Field - Yesterday And Today
Blissful Swedish electronica. The Field's take on 'Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime' will surely soundtrack many an Ibizan sunset this season. (JD)

Florence & the Machine – Hospital Beds
As the hype machine threatens to break under expectations, treat yourself to this truly spine-tingling Cold War Kids cover before checking out her debut album 'Lungs' next week. (LM)

Timo Garcia - Wonderlust Bug
Seamlessly blending one track into the next, Timo Garcia’s debut album runs like an underground DJ set and should please fans of minimal, house, trance, glitch and, er, swing. The standout is 'The Hang Drum Track', on which the titular instrument, last brought to the public’s attention by Mercury Prize nominees Portico Quartet, is used to resonant effect and an extra, unexpected beat propels things along. (JD)

Kap Bambino - Blacklist (Album)
“'More Human Than Human' is our motto.” (MJ)

Lemuria - Bristles & Whiskers (live in Carlisle)
If I die tomorrow, I will die happy. (DB)

Lemuria - Lipstick (live in Sunderland)
The only song to make me cry. Ever. (DB)

Lenka - The Show
Just enjoying the show here... (CP)

Little Boots - Hands
Following Gary K's recommendation last month, Vicky Hesketh looks set to soundtrack the summer of more than one Music Fix contributor. (CP/LM)

Magic Wands - Kaleidoscope Hearts
“This is my happening and it freaks me out!” (MJ)

Manic Street Preachers - William's Last Words
“Show me a hero and I'll write you a tragedy.” (MJ)

Pulp - Different Class
Some '90s retro goodness, following Blur's return to stages and the fields of Glastonbury. (CP)

T.Rex - Ballrooms of Mars
"You are the music while the music lasts." (MJ)

Trentemoller (compiled & mixed by) - Harbour Boat Trips 01: Copenhagen
Dance music's dark prince takes us on a journey which runs the gamut from Gravenhurst's twisted folk to Suicide's throbbing rock 'n' roll. Only Soft Cell's 'Tainted Love' sounds light and accessible. Full of obscure gems, as these things should be. (JD)

Patrick Wolf – The Bachelor
The oddball pixie boy returns for a sweeping album of grandiose ballads, twitchy electronica and, erm, lotsa Tilda Swinton. (LM)
