Simply Red air horror
Less tasteful websites than this venerable organ might slip in a reference to 'A New Flame' or 'The Air That I Breathe' at this point, but not us. No way.
From the Simply Red website:
Simply Red were forced to cancel their live performance on the Brazilian TV Show 'Domingao do Faustao' on Sunday when Mick Hucknall's plane into Rio de Janeiro from Buenos Aires was forced to make an emergency landing in Sao Paulo after the pressure in the cabin fell and the oxygen masks failed to come down.
The plane had to make a quick descent from 35,000 feet to 5,000 feet and was left without enough fuel to continue its journey to Rio. With no flight connections that would get Mick to the live show on time (the rest of the band were already there), Simply Red had no choice but to cancel their planned performance, which was to be broadcast around the world to an audience of over 50 million people.
Having been advised to rest to allow his throat and ears time to recover, but in good spirits, the Simply Red frontman expressed his regret at not being able to perform on the show and said he would instead be concentrating all his efforts in playing the band’s two sold out shows in Sao Paulo on the 3rd and 4th of March and Rio on March 6th.
