Let me take you down...

In a victory for practical iconoclasm a statue of Liverpool legend John Lennon is set to be removed from a Spanish town after repeated attacks by vandals.

The memorial, which stood for two years in Almeria, is covered in paint and has seen the the guitar neck broken and his trademark granny specs snapped off after a series of attacks.

Creator Carmen Mudarra, who created the statue to commemorate Lennon's penning of Strawberry Fields in the town, said: "These are not casual acts of vandalism. They went there with the intention of damaging it."
A terrible desecration of the legacy of the great man, but if Carmen thinks that this is bad then she clearly hasn't heard Free as a bird.
