Second CD format of ‘Sweet About Me’ released on June 9th 2008

Proving one of the biggest growers of the year so far, GABRIELLA CILMI’s debut single ‘Sweet About Me’ has shot into the UK Singles Top 20 on Sunday, a full ten weeks after it’s original release. Currently soundtracking a major TV ad campaign for Sure, ‘Sweet About Me’ has sold over 35,000 singles to date in the UK.

Due to popular demand for the single, Island Records release a brand new CD format of ‘Sweet About Me’ on June 9th 2008, featuring the original radio edit and a brand new Sunship Remix. Previous remixes of the track from Ashley Beedle and Matthew Herbert helped the single break into the UK Upfront Club Chart Top 10 in March.

Since her very first media outing in the UK, performing on ‘Later With Jools Holland’ before Christmas, the British public have proved incredibly reactive to 16 year old Australian/Italian singer-songwriter GABRIELLA CILMI, with her debut album ‘LESSONS TO BE LEARNED’ smashing into the UK Album Top 10 last week.

With the new format of ‘Sweet About Me’, the release of Gabriella’s second single, ‘Save The Lies’ moves to 11th August 2008. As ‘Sweet About Me’ catches Gabriella’s smokey blues-inflections, ‘Save The Lies’ showcases a rock roar worthy of Grace Jones, and both tracks show a diversity few new artists can offer.

Proving that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough, Gabriella became the youngest ever artist to have a No.1 single in her homeland Australia recently with ‘Sweet About Me’. An A-list record at Radio 2 around the original release in March, Gabriella performed the single on This Morning, GMTV, Sounds, as well as Later, and on radio sessions with 6Music and Radio 2’s Dermot O’Leary show.

It is in her live performance that Gabriella excels, and for those who have missed her supporting Nouvelle Vague and Sugababes recently, she has confirmed that she will perform at the V Festival 2008 in August, adding to the three headline shows in June in London, Manchester and Glasgow, and a performance at T In The Park Festival in July, joining the likes of Glasvegas and Black Kids on their Futures Stage that weekend.

Combining pure pop sass with a sophisticated husk of a voice, Radio 2 made ‘Lessons To Be Learned’ their ALBUM OF THE WEEK last week. Destined to be a contender for pop album of the year and made with Xenomania, the UK’s premier hit making production team, ‘Lessons To Be Learned’ is an outstanding debut from one of the most exciting new singers to emerge this year.
