Sander van Doorn - Supernaturalistic
Yes, he has the kind of name that conjurs panic in trance haters, but the debut album from Sander van Doorn is far better than one might expect. Embracing a more minimal, less grating sound, Supernaturalistic is a cut above standard trance fare. Sushi, for example, with its spacey atmosphere is as much Booka Shade as Tiesto. Only one track, a remix of Sia's The Girl You Lost To Cocaine, really harnesses a vocal (and, thankfully, not in a cheesy manner), while Lobby abandons trance completely for a meshing of comedown electronica and moody guitar.
