Various - Steve Angello presents Sizeism
22 year old Steve Angello is the metaphorical man with a finger in every pie. When he's not producing, remixing, running a record label, playing DJ sets or winning awards, he is slaving away making mix albums like Sizeism.
Disc one here is loaded with clean, fairly commercial sounds, going so far as to include his own remix of Robyn's recent number one, With Every Heartbeat. Also moulded by his own hands, with help from Sebastian Ingrosso, is Umbrella. Thankfully having nothing to do with the Rihanna song, uplifting strings and Spanish guitar make this a winning summer house tune. (One can't imagine it going down so well in December with the inevitable added vocal.) Best track on the first disc, however, is Lustral's heavenly Everytime (Funkagenda Mix).
Disc two is a darker beast, blending house subgenres such as minimal and deep. The focus here is less on melody and vocal, and more on mood, rhythm and bleeps. That said, Oxia's Domino and Gino's & Snake's Red Moon are anthems in their own right, unleashing bulldozing waves of electronic noise.
Fans of Angello, or any other members of the so-called Swedish House Mafia, should not be disappointed.
