Various - Godskitchen Electric
Of the two discs that make up Godskitchen Electric, it's rather surprisingly the one marked as trance (as opposed to house) that is the most satisfying. Still, these labels should be taken with a pinch of salt. The anthemic Pulverturm 2.0 (Eric Smax & Thomas Gold Remix), for example, would seem to inhabit the wrong CD, sounding more electro-house than trance. But who cares when some roof-lifting breakdowns ensure this is one of the best things here?
Sadly, somebody let the usual lousy fall-backs hitch a lift; that's the predictably tedious Fedde le Grand and two helpings of Tiesto. Magic Carpet Ride '07 (Claude VonStroke Sucker Free City Edition) also manages to irritate and Haunting (Christopher Just Remix) in part resembles Coldplay's Clocks too closely to stomach. Better are the likes of Domino, Bermuda Triangle and This World Is Watching Me. It's enough to keep Godskitchen Electric on a simmer, if not boiling over.
