Fresh from supporting Corinne Bailey Rae on her European tour, Jack Savoretti releases the title track of his acclaimed debut album ‘Between The Minds’ on May 7th.
Haunting lyrics and spellbinding delivery have rapidly become the 23 year old’s trademark and his poetic musical storytelling have led to comparisons with songwriters such as Nick Drake and Damien Rice
As a teenager, the only thing that interested him was poetry. “I was writing all the time, it was the thing to do, sit under a tree with a notebook, go somewhere else in your head. I was in the clouds.” When his mother gave him a guitar and suggested he try putting some of his words to music he was “surprised how much more people listen to you when you are singing than if you read a poem,” he admits. “After that, I couldn’t stop, it was constant writing, every day, it became almost a form of conversation, the way I interact with the world.”
Jack has received unparalleled support from Radio 2 with his two previous singles (Without and Dreamers) both play-listed and his album declared Album of the Week. Additional airplay on Radio 1 and across the ILR network has led to Jack’s characteristic voice and unique style becoming airwaves favourites.
The new single, and the album’s title track, ‘Between the Minds’ touches the heart with the simplicity and honesty of the lyrics whilst the gentle production perfectly frames the rawness of Jack’s emotions and vocals.
The video for ‘Between The Minds’ has been directed by Karni&Saul - the collaborative talents of art and fashion photographer Karni Arieli, and animator and 3D director Saul Freed – whose recent credits include Beth Orton, Scott Matthews and Nizlopi.
