Various - Now That's What I Call Music! 65

"45 Top Chart Hits" here equals the usual mixed bag. So, on the plus side: snappy pop from Girls Aloud, Nelly Furtado, All Saints and Gnarls Barkley, Kasabian's gloriously OTT Empire, and Bodyrox's Yeah Yeah (much better than soundalike Put Your Hands Up For Detroit, also present). On the minus side: a host of dismal rock bands (see: Razorlight, Keane, The Feeling), risible dance tunes seemingly aimed at a target audience too young to get into clubs (Rock This Party, SuperFreak, Everytime We Touch), and dreadful balladeering from Rihanna, Westlife and Meat Loaf.

Forget David Hasselhoff's trying-too-hard-to-be-funny Jump In My Car, the most WTF novelty track here is El Chombo's Chacarron, a mix of reggaeton beats and mumbling. Still, it might be worth handing over all those Woolies vouchers just to hear McFly sing "Hey, there's nothing on Earth that could save us/ When I fell in love with Uranus" (Star Girl). Or it might not.
