Sam Fender announced as next VEVO UK LIFT act for 2019
Vevo has announced Sam Fender as the next Vevo UK Lift act for 2019. The North Shields singer-songwriter has already enjoyed a colossal year of amazing moments, and with the imminent release of his eagerly-anticipated debut album, Hypersonic Missiles through Polydor Records, Sam’s story has barely begun.
Vevo will release two exclusive performances of ‘The Borders’ and Sam’s new single ‘Will We Talk?’ on 16 September.
"It was a truly magic day,” said Sam Fender. “Everybody in the team worked so well together and I am so proud of the performances we've captured with Vevo and for being selected as a LIFT artist. We went in there and played like it was our last day on earth."
Sam Fender is a rare talent. The 25-year-old musician plays every gig as though it could well be his last, armed with a huge, cavernous vocal and electric guitar, and fuelled by the timeless belief that great guitar music still has the power to change lives and influence people. Writing about subjects and situations close to Sam’s heart and influenced by the Northern city in which he grew up in, he’s an artist who doesn’t lose sight of where he’s come from, but surely has little idea of where this could all be heading. A big character, with an even bigger voice.
JP Evangelista, Vevo’s SVP of Content, Programming and Marketing, says, “It has been very special to watch Sam Fender grow into the artist he is today, having worked with him through our DSCVR Artist To Watch program and now graduate to become a LIFT artist, it feels like his musical journey is only just getting started. We shot some amazing pieces of video content with him which we are excited for his fans to see, and on the cusp of a new album and a headline tour, big things await this singer-songwriter.”
Since its inception in 2011, Vevo’s artist development programme LIFT has thrown the spotlight on the freshest new talent in Britain. Vevo LIFT alumni include the likes of Tom Walker, Sam Smith, Years & Years and Rag‘N’Bone Man who all gave their fans a sneak peek into their early careers via a series of Vevo videos.
