Nina Jayne - Could've Been
Despite there being the likelihood of you never having heard of her, Nina Jayne is one of Arista's big hopes for the coming year and, with this being her debut single, it's very likely that she could make it.
Nina Jayne is half-Pakistani, half-Jamaican but no matter what the nationality of her parents may have brought her, the sound of Could've Been is all London. Over a skittering garage rhythm, Nina Jayne's vocals swoop breathlessly but continually avoid the tics associated with Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston. Instead, there is a sense of stylish cool about the single that rescues popular garage from the likes of Craig David and back to its early, and deeply underground, sound.
With the press pack for this being little more than a couple of paragraphs, there's little to further describe this 21-year-old but point your browser at Nina Jayne's homepage for more details in the future and the chance to listen to this single.
