Harmony Byrne shares video for 'Smoke Inside'

Australian artist Harmony Byrne has shared her new single and video "Smoke Inside," a brooding, bluesy waltz with striking guitar stabs and soulful, affecting vocals. It is the third single off Harmony's debut LP, Heavy Doors, due in the fall; produced by Spoon drummer Jim Eno, who has also produced bands like The Head and the Heart and Half Moon Run.

Harmony notes about writing "Smoke Inside": "As a child I was told that I was a drama queen. Initially, I mistook this as being a negative aspect of my personality and struggled to express myself. But thankfully, I was also taught to have self-worth, honesty, integrity, and that I only ever need be myself in a world full of frauds. 'Smoke Inside' is all about valuing who you are, no matter how wild or tame, and that if someone you love doesn’t let you light up inside, then they are not the match for you."

The accompanying music video was shot at the Silver Sands Motel in upstate New York and finds Harmony navigating her way through rooms. It's an external representation of internal contemplation that mirrors the song's lyrics as she recalls, confronts, and puts to rest her personal experiences with love.
