Bell X1 - Rocky Took A Lover

Strung around the internet at the moment are a variety of different websites and clues hinting to a secret, piecing together the fragments of the animated video for this, the new single by Bell X1. Rocky Took A Lover is taken from recent album Flock, the second album of songs written by Paul Noonan.

Ths is a wry and sometimes plodding anthem, delicate but cut with sporadic bursts of strings and a rumbling rolling bass. The tippy-tapped keyboard line is straight out of 'No Surprises', and the lyrics are interesting, often amusing, with a tongue firmly planted in the cheek.

The flipside is a cover of Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode, sadly not available on the review copy. As for Rocky, it certainly has its merits. Its an adequate track, interesting in its own way - Snow Patrol with a bit more experimentation. To check out the video visit Rocky Took A Lover and follow the trail.
