MALKA launches a Kickstarter campaign to fund her new album, I'm Not Your Soldier

MALKA, aka Tamara Schlesinger, has taken to Kickstarter to raise the funds for her new album, I'm Not Your Soldier with a variety of rewards including signed CDs and Vinyl albums, lyric books and even a house gig!

You can back her here.

The album is already written and recording is already funded so the Kickstarter campaign is literally for the production and distribution of the finished project.

MALKA is one of our favourite artists - she's released consistently brilliant work both in her current solo artist guise and in her work with the band 6 Day Riot. You can read some of our reviews of her earlier albums, Ratatatat, and Marching to Another Beat.

In her email about the campaign, Tamara says "I am delighted to have received funding from Creative Scotland to record my new album with Record Producer Paul Savage (Mogwai, Belle and Sebastian, Franz Ferdinand) at Chem 19 studios. I've been waiting for months to find out whether the application had been successful and so I have spent loads of time working on the album and it already sounds amazing - I am so proud of it - and I can't believe that I get to record it with such an incredible producer. I'm feeling pretty lucky to have this fantastic opportunity to create my best work to date.

The aim of the crowdfunding campaign is to raise enough funds to cover the marketing and promotion of the album - what's the point of making something so great if no-one gets to hear it -  the manufacture of the CD's and vinyl and to allow me to pay the band properly to come and tour the record. I hope that you will join me on this journey. Once you have pledged you will also have access to lots of updates of the studio recording, artwork ideas and demos throughout the process."
