Whiskey & Co - Leaving The Nightlife

Three years after their eponymous debut, Whiskey & Co. return with a fat-free collection of alt.country which, you won't be surprised to hear, sounds pretty much like old-fashioned country. They even go so far as to includes a cover by the Grammy Award-winning John Prine.

No surprises sonically or lyrically (as you can tell by the song titles) but they swing along nicely enough and Kim Helm's vocals have a warmth that draw the listener in to her somewhat wearied tales of hard liquor and broken hearts.

For fans of the genre this is recommended, and for those who perhaps treasured the occasional Madder Rose track somewhere down the line, worthy of investigation. Yeah ... nice one.
